Package+Branding
Thursday, July 16th, 2009 by colby

Got these in the Lions Den store the other day and thought it was pretty cool. The box was executed really well, even the stickers had the name of the store on it, nice touch! The inside flap contained the linesheet/catalog/order info with again name of the store, awesome. And an assortment of sample shirts in the box. The plastic shirt sleeves were also custom printed with the name of their brand ‘Fur Face Boy’. It was put together really well and good consistency throughout the package/brand. Check out the pics! (excuse the crappy work camera)

Swatch Watches by Billy the Artist
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 by colby

The fusion of art and fashion. Here are brand new limited edition timepieces by Billy the Artist for the Swatch CreArt Collection launching today. Originated in 1986 with pieces designed by famed artist Keith Haring, this collection introduces a mainstream audience to the world of abstract creativity by giving consumers the opportunity to purchase “wearable” art.

In what he calls “Urban Primitive,” Billy the Artist specializes in modern day pop art – a kaleidoscope of puzzle-like images that celebrate the diversity and joy of the human spirit. His bold, distinctive style moves easily from art galleries to commercial venues and from small-scale projects to enormous urban murals. His signature approach to design can be discerned in the two pieces he has created for Swatch, which are aptly named Afterdark and Morning Glow. Both pieces encapsulate the idea of the joy of life through vibrant colors and distinct visual designs. “My philosophies are to ‘create your own reality and no plan B’. I think my watches with their wide open eyes and playful spirit represent that,” said Billy. “When people are wearing my watches and look down at them I want them to feel that positive happy spirit that is awake in my art and my spirit.”

ABOUT AFTERDARK
Making his mark with unmistakable style and panache, Billy the Artist brings his art to every man’s wrist. The top folio strap of this artful Gent presents the dynamic black and white story with fluid line and high-contrast graphics. The story moves through the streets in the hours after dark from the strap to the plastic case and on to the black and white dial, where the graphics transform the design into a face. There’s a nod to the masters of modern art in the look and feel of this playful model, but Billy’s image stands on its own, contemporary art for the world’s smallest canvas. A white hour hand, a black minute hand and a slim white seconds hand mark the time.

ABOUT MORNING GLOW

Billy the Artist takes off the gloves: color rules! The top folio strap of this brash Gent makes way for color as the hero. Black ink fences color in; color jumps the fence, exploding off the wrist in red, blue, purple, green… and a solid blue plastic case. A bright, funny, loud and slightly skeptical face looks up from the multicolored dial and sends the eye back to the strap to discover more faces hidden in the color-puzzle. There’s no need for numerals or indices; blue hour and minute hands and a slim black seconds hand mark the time. Billy the Artist’s Morning Glow will be made available in a Limited Edition of 11,111 pieces, in a special sleeve.
